A letter from Lucy's fiance, Thomas Franklin LAKIN:

I Think of Thee, --- for Lucy

I think of thee when eve's last blush
Falls mournfully on heart and eye;
Of thee when morn's first glories gush
In gold and crimson o'er the sky;
My thoughts are thine amid toil and strife:
Thine when from toil and spirit free
Ah, thine -- forever thine -- my life
Tis but a burning thought of thee.

I think of thee 'mid Spring's sweet flowers,
And in the Summer's brighter glow,
Of thee in Autumn's purple bowers,
And gloomy Winter's waste of snow;
My thoughts are thine when joys depart,
And thine when all life's sorrows flee
Ay, thine -- forever thine -- my heart
Is but a throbbing thought of thee.

-----While attending the laying out of the child of J.N. Eastes, Mr.Maltby was
surprised to find that the body was not stiff and that there were warmspots on
various parts of the body. He called the attention of the familyphysician, who
said that in his opinion, the child was dead, but that there should be no
mistake made. They had better try to resescitate the body. They tried,but were
unable to bring about any further signs of life. On the contrary, thebody
became cold and stiff.

I came across the Eastes Family web site by chance, as I was searchingfor
other family members. I was surprised when upon looking at your site, I
recognized the names of several family members. I checked a copy of the
family tree I maintain, and sure enough they matched.

My Grandmother was Apphia Myrtle (5), daughter of William T. (4), Holman(3),
Obediah (2), Elisha (1). Apphia married Orville Shaw in 1903, and had 3

My father was Gene. He married Hannah Hagen in 1945, and had two sons;myself
- Robert Godtfred (1954) and my brother Ronald Ivar (1956).

I married Diane Martha Nedza in 1977, and have 2 children: Colin Ronald
(1982) and Courtney Noreen (1985).

Ronald married Barbara Kramer in 1983, and also has 2 children; RonaldIvar
Jr. (1984) and Geanah Ellen (1986).

I'm going to let my cousins know about your web site, so they can reviewthe
